Facial Cosmetic Procedures That We Offer

Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

In time, gravity, sun exposure, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces. Deep creases appear beside the mouth, the jawline slackens, and folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. Facelifts rejuvenate one’s appearance by restoring cheeks, jawlines and neck to more youthful positions and contours thereby relieving the patient of age-related distractions. A facelift can be combined with a brow lift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping for more dramatic results, or it can be restricted to the neck (neck lift) if the patient is particularly concerned about laxity and the dreaded “double chin.” Incisions are made in inconspicuous places such as behind the hairline and in natural folds of the face and ears, and scars fade to near imperceptions with time.

Though you continue to age after a facelift, the increment of improvement is permanent. In other words, if the average rejuvenated appearance is 15 years, the patient will always look 15 years younger. You jump back on the conveyer belt and you never get back to where you would have been if you had not had the surgery.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. The operation is usually performed in an office in as little as 45 minutes. Blepharoplasty can be combined with a facelift or BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes.

Nasal Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

One of the more common plastic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, reduce or augment a person's nose, remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, or to correct injury, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing. Results depend on the patient's nasal bone and cartilage structure, facial shape, skin thickness and age (teenagers should have completed their growth spurt). Insurance may partially cover rhinoplasty if it is done for reconstructive or medical reason, but not for cosmetic purposes.

Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure performed under either sedation or general anesthesia. Surgeons use one of two techniques: incisions are either made within the nose, thus hiding scars after surgery, or across the columella, the vertical strip of tissue separating the nostrils in an "open" procedure. This scar is small and hidden on the underside of the base. In both procedures, the skin is lifted and the bone and cartilage are sculpted to the desired shape and form.

For a short time after surgery you may experience puffiness, nose ache, a dull headache, some swelling and bruising, bleeding or stuffiness. Most patients feel like themselves within two days and return to work in about a week. Contact lenses can be worn immediately, but glasses will have to be taped to your forehead or propped on your cheeks for up to six weeks.

Forehead/Brow Lift

Brow lifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping one to look less angry, sad or tired. The muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and eyebrows are raised for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations, such as blepharoplasty and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face.

Chin Surgery (Mentoplasty)

Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin usually by enhancement with an implant. Many times, a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery in order to achieve facial balance, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose. Chin surgery helps provide a harmonious balance, especially to the profile. In doing so, it enhances jawline definition and chin-neck angulation.
